Two families interested in being members attended the meeting: Jesus & Patty Mariscal and family. Jason and Jason Thomas.
The arena is being rented out March 7th for Western Heritage Barrel Race. Time only will begin at 12:45pm. Kita Morris will run the Cook Shack. Alex agreed to drag and water the arena before the event, Western Heritage will be responsible for dragging during the event
The next Jackpot Barrel Race will be on March 28. The Washingtons will work the Cook Shack. Alex will prep the arena
SNGA will be on 03/21/09. Alex will prep the arena. The Washingtons will work the Cook Shack.
Jill brought up that Tex Carter and Richard Griffith are interested in renting the arena on Thursday nights starting in April for Team Roping. The dates they would like are April 2, 16, 30 and May 7th. These shows would be about 2-2 ½ hours long. There would be no Cook Shack for the Thursday night shows. They are wanting to use the arena for a Friday and Saturday show in May, and possible a Friday and Saturday show in December. For the two day shows, they would bring the steers in on Friday and have them out by Sunday.
The rate that would be charged for the Thursday night shows was discussed. Jill suggested $50.00 per hour with a two hour minimum. The start time would be ½ hour before the start of the show. A motion was made and carried.
Lisa Carter and Desert Pines Equine would like to set up a Shot & Teeth Floating Clinic for the Sunrise Rider members. It was discussed and decided that the idea would be brought up again during one of the Summer meeting for fall shots.
Buying dirt for the warm up arena was brought up again. The approximate cost would be $1000 for the dirt that Alex found. The dirt would have to be screened to remove the rocks. Alex agreed to do the screening. A motion was made and carried to purchase the dirt.
The possibility of having a Summer Barrel Racing Series was discussed. There would be the $200 added and it would be a 4D but the races would be held on Wednesday nights at 7:00 p.m. with prizes/buckles given at the end of the series. Would be looking at holding the series between May through July.
